Monsoon Tripping at the Cabin Over the Lake

So we gave in again to that urge...to travel, soak in some sun, or in this case, the rain!

Maharashtra is poetry in the monsoons..the green! Damn bitch!
So, we booked this cabin over the lake and I apologize right at the start that I shall refrain from sharing the details of this property, since I think that the owners do not want to advertise it too much and wish to keep it hidden.

This I know since I tried real hard to look it up but there were just 2 leads. It is near Pune, is all I will say and there is only 1 website via which you can book this.

I was here at the end of July 2016.

Anyhow, this was a long drive from Bombay, so, we started at 7:45 AM. Our booking started at 2 PM but I aimed to be there an hour early. This, I will admit, was because I wanted to get as much out of the trip as possible.

So, we did manage to get there at 1:10 PM. We parked and walked up to the cabin.

From across the road we heard the caretaker shout back. We apologized for being almost an hour early .. tee hee

He showed us in and we could not wait to be left alone to explore the cabin and soak it all in. IT WAS UNDOUBTEDLY ONE OF THE NICEST PLACES I HAVE STAYED IN.

A huge well maintained garden, with this cabin perched at the edge of the hill and the lake starting just below and panning out to the horizon. Yeah! Infinity house!

The cabin is one large living space, with a comfy bed in the centre and also has a small bathroom and next to it, a kitchenette with some basic amenities. There is a loft space above the bathroom and kitchenette, where 2 people can sleep.

We were so restless, and could not get enough of being inside the cabin or sitting in the spacious balcony overlooking the lake and hearing the waves crash at the banks right under us

The garden outside had grass so soft and cushiony that you sank in a little when you walked on it.

The garden had some wrought iron benches at the edge, overlooking the lake.

We did not waste any time in opening the wine bottle that we had got along and sat enjoying it everywhere - from the garden to the cabin to the balcony!

In the evening we went for a walk on the mud road outside the property. We realized that a pathway led down to the lake below.

So we went walking that path and came to am old gate just before the lake.

The lake was pristine and it seemed like no one really came on the banks this side, since we found remnants of half eaten eels, fishes and shells around.

We walked to where we though was the edge of the lake on one side, because there was the hill on which our cottage was perched, but once we got to the edge, we could see that you could walk further and come right under the cabin.

It started drizzling and since i was carrying my camera, we had to rush sooner than we wished for.

We got back, relaxed, had tea and generally felt awesome!

Soon it was time to open whisky and in that weather, in that cabin, it was all divine!

'

So yeah, we were happy souls and spent a great evening there. We called it a day at around 2:30 AM.

Woke up to an amazing view - straight out of the cabin windows, you could see the expanse of the lake - uuuufffff - there are cabins and there are CABINS - this was the second one!

I even went exploring under the house.

We had a lovely breakfast of poha, and bread & omelette!

Soon it was time to leave but hey, we had a flat. Even our spare tire was low on air. That's us and not surprising!

The caretaker had to get someone from the village to take the tire on the bike, get it fixed and back. This gave us an extra hour.

Highly recommended for couple, even though we had an extra wheel on us,

We got back to Bombay and as usual SLEPT!

Separate post coming up on the birds I captured this trip.
